Owners of the new Apple Watch are advised to be extra careful with their new gadget, because it has been revealed that the device lacks basic security. Worst case scenario is when the Apple Watch is stolen, it can easily be reset, and sold in factory condition.
According to MacRumors, the news came into light when customers complained that the Apple Watch lacks the iO7 security app called “Activation Lock”, an app that prevents thieves from wiping and using a stolen apple device with a new account. Apple has supplied every iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch with Activation Lock since 2013, when the company released iOS 7.
Activation Lock links with the users Apple ID to lock the phone’s data from ever being erased or reuse, unless someone entered the owner’s Apple ID and password. Furthermore, it also prevents thieves from using the phone after swapping its SIM card with a new one.
This app has been effective at reducing the amount of Apple devices from being sold after stolen, since not many people want to buy locked phones. . But unfortunately, this critical feature is nowhere to be found in Apple Watch.
As cited by Yahoo Tech, a user on Youtube posted a video of him successfully bypassed passcode check, and reset the device to factory settings. The watch is also proves to seamlessly to connect with any iPhones.

MacRumors stated that the device’s expensive price tag, easy visibility when used in public (strap on wrist), high resale value, and its compact design, makes it easily a desirable target for muggers.
