Telltale has had a lot of fun playing with traditional Batman stories and characters in their version of Gotham City. A new clip, first revealed by IGN, introduces fan favorite Harley Quinn, voiced by Laura Post, to Batman: The Enemy Within. She looks like she will play a large role in the second episode, entitled “The Pact.” Check out the clip below, featuring Harley, John Doe (the Joker), and Bruce Wayne:
It seems like an interesting dynamic, as “John Doe” has not gone full Joker yet, but it seems like he is trending in that direction. On the other hand, Harley seems less like the “sweetheart with a sadistic side” that we are used to seeing from her in most of her portrayals. Instead, she seems a little more mean-spirited. Maybe she is going to push Joker over the edge in Batman: The Enemy Within, as opposed to the other way around? Or is this version of the Joker playing a really, really long con? We’ll have to wait and see.
We quite enjoyed the first episode of Batman: The Enemy Within (you can read our review of it here), with its unique take on the Riddler and typical excellent Telltale writing. Although the first season lost a bit of steam as the somewhat convoluted story played out, it did an excellent job of playing with the player’s expectations as well. It twisted the typical story of Bruce’s parents to make for a new take on characters that we have seen repeated several times over.
The next episode of Batman: The Enemy Within, “The Pact,” releases on October 3 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The end of the Harley Quinn clip also teases a new trailer releasing later this week, September 26. Stay tuned for a review of the episode, and for more information on the game as it becomes available.
