It is no surprise that the CW had been planning to integrate Bruce Wayne’s acquaintance into the Arrowverse fray. Many fans have been wondering who would bring to life the wealthy heiress to the screen. DC Comics has finally announced the actress that will hunt the criminals of Gotham City. Batwoman will be portrayed by none other than actress Ruby Rose.
The character was previously teased to debut in during the annual Arrow-verse crossover event which will happen sometime in December. Batwoman has earned a considerable popularity following her re-appearance in the new 52 issues in 2006. Kate Kane, Batwoman’s civilian name, has considerable wealth akin to Bruce Wayne and was inspired by the man’s alter ego. She then put her money for a better cause and has crossed paths and partnered with the Bat-family numerous times as Batwoman. However, for the most part, the character works outside the ties of the famous Dark Knight.
Her re-appearance also brought notable changes to the character that was missing before her hiatus after Crisis on Infinite Earths debuted. Not only did she have much more of a prominent role in the comics (and subsequently in other media), but Batwoman was introduced as a person of Jewish descent and lesbian. Combined with her strong and compelling personality, she has become a much more popular character within and outside the LGBT community.
Actress Ruby Rose who is also an openly gay person has become a more prominent actress both on TV and the movie industry. She is notable for her work in Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black and acted as a foil to the main protagonist of John Wick: Chapter 2. Currently, the actress is playing a former journalist surviving in the post-apocalyptic world of Fear The Walking Dead.
