Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?, also known as DanMachi, just made scores of its fans incredibly happy. The adventure series announced that not only would there be a second season, but an anime film was in the works. This news comes with a promo video showing off the first visual, as well as the logos for both, revealing the film’s title as Arrow of the Orion.
Fans are understandably ecstatic. Originally airing in Spring 2015, the DanMachi anime is based on a series of light novels of the same name. In it, the gods have decided to live among mortals, overseeing adventurer groups called Familias. These Familias enter a dungeon in search of riches and fame. Bell Cranel longs to be an adventurer and soon meets the lonely goddess, Hestia, who welcomes him as the first member of her Familia.
The series inspired a spin-off titled Sword Oratia, featuring the character of Ais Wallenstein, whom Bell has a crush on. This series looked at what she was doing during the events of the main story. However, this DanMachi spin-off failed to garner nearly as much love. Likely because Ais is (perhaps intentionally) not a terribly interesting character. Thus having an entire show about her was probably tempting fate, and helped none by how much the fandom was clamoring for a second season.
There isn’t much information regarding the actual production of the project. However, the promo video features lines from Hestia, played by Inori Minase, and Bell, played by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. Based on that, it’s reasonable to assume at least they will reprise their roles. It’s also known that series creator, Fujino Ōmori, will write a completely original story for the film. Whether the studio and staff will be changing at all, let alone any other members of the cast, is currently unknown. No information pertaining to release dates is available at this time, but DanMachi fans are likely eagerly awaiting more info.
