Techland announced the sequel to their open-world zombie survival game, Dying Light, at Microsoft’s E3 conference earlier today. It looks as though Dying Light 2 will be much darker than its predecessor in more ways than one.
Narrative Designer Chris Avellone, who worked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Fallout 2, walked audiences through the experience for the sequel. Avellone referred to this story as a take on the “modern-day Dark Ages” where your choices change the world around you. Depending on those you trust, your choice to use violence, or your ability to help people in the world all drastically affect and change the world in which you’re living. And that’s all before the sun goes down.
This was an unexpected announcement, but it is one that we are definitely excited about. While a release window has yet to be announced, Dying Light 2 will eventually be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
