Just a few months ago, VentureBeat reported that DICE’s 2018 Battlefield game would be titled Battlefield V and will take place during World War II. Today, EA has officially confirmed this report.
On the official Battlefield website, EA and DICE put out this statement:
“The next chapter of EA DICE’s groundbreaking all-out war saga is Battlefield V. Tune in on May 23 for a first look into how your epic journey with Battlefield V will be. On the Battlefield V Live Reveal, the team developing the game will share their vision.”
Our first look at the next installment of the hit first-person shooter will be coming May 23rd at 4 PM EST.
Trevor Noah, the host of The Daily Show, has confirmed via Twitter that he will be hosting the reveal event.
#ad The rumors are true (rumors that I started, but still…) I will be hosting the @Battlefield Live Reveal on Wed, May 23rd. Catch it streaming live on the #Battlefield YouTube. V EXCITING! pic.twitter.com/7B3fpTpQ6x

It is important to note that neither EA or DICE have revealed the time period Battlefield V will take place in. Although we don’t know anything yet about its setting, it has been confirmed from EA that Battlefield V will feature a single-player campaign. That statement is surely a shot at Treyarch’s upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which has reportedly thrown out their planned single-player campaign for more focus on multiplayer, zombies, and a brand-new battle-royale mode.
In the VentureBeat report, which is turning out to be accurate barring a shocking announcement next week, Jeff Grubb (author of the article) claimed that the Battlefield V single-player would be strikingly similar to Battlefield 1.
Not only will we be receiving our first look at Battlefield V May 23rd but the game will also be at E3 2018. For all of the conference times and games confirmed to be at this year’s E3, click here.
