Fortnite Battle Royale is the most popular game in the world right now. It has been consistently one of the top streamed games on Twitch and Mixer for months. Not to sound like Ron Burgundy but it’s kind of a big deal in the gaming community.
Players have been theorizing for weeks now that the mysterious comet, which can be spotted in the skies of Fortnite Battle Royale’s sole map, would be crashing soon. This could be another shakeup to Fortnite’s play area but what if this comet actually gives us an entirely new map? In an interview with GamesRadar, lead designer of Fortnite Battle Royale Eric Williamson was asked about the possibility of adding a second map. Williamson replied:
“We’ve discussed it internally. It’s probably not a question of if, but certainly a question of when.”
GamesRadar’s Alex Avard later clarified in the article that:
“Williamson followed up by saying that Epic wasn’t currently preparing to bring out anything at the time, but considering the exceptionally speedy and forward-thinking pace that the studio operate at with Battle Royale, maybe the last few weeks since that interview have been all that’s needed to begin the countdown clock for island arena number two.”
Hopefully, we see a new map sooner rather than later but we won’t know anything for sure until Fortnite Battle Royale Season 4 (When the comet is projected to crash). There is no definitive release date for the next season but seeing as Season 3 will wrap up at the end of April, Season 4 shouldn’t be too far behind.
