It has been a while since we’ve gotten to step into the shoes of a somber old man living through a zombie apocalypse (RIP Bill). Not only does Overkill’s The Walking Dead solve that problem in the form of Grant, they’ve also been kind enough to unveil a trailer with a little back story on him.
With his trusty sniper rifle, the trailer shows Grant roaming around an interstate highway walking toward Washington D.C. The grandfather’s macabre side comes out soon enough, as he sits in the passenger seat of a station wagon drinking whiskey, reminiscing about his granddaughter to a jawless zombie trapped by a seatbelt in the driver’s seat.
So far, Overkill Software has revealed two other characters aside from Grant, Aidan, and Maya. Of the three reveals, Grant seems to be distance, Maya the Healer, and Aidan the Brawler. Logically speaking, the last character will be a beefy guy or girl, aka the team’s tank.
After the last character left to reveal of the four character co-op is unveiled, it is likely that the next bit of footage we will see from Overkill’s The Walking Dead will be in the form of gameplay at this year’s E3.
That isn’t to say that Overkill’s dedication to story and worldbuilding isn’t impressive. Based on the trailers so far, the game feels a lot more like the comic book version of The Walking Dead than the comic, and even the more recent versions of the Telltale series.
It has been confirmed at least that each character will be customizable, featuring unique unlockable skins to add a sense of flair.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead will release this fall for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For more information, be sure to check back to the site for updates, as well as all of your other nerdy news and needs.
