Everyone loves free stuff, so why not add another free game to your already bloated Steam library? Humble Bundle loves to offer free games, but they are usually only around for a limited time. If you act quick, you can pick up first person shooter Homefront at a 100 percent discount on this page right now. There is a countdown expiring at 10 AM PST tomorrow, so act fast..
Homefront is set in the year 2027, where a united North and South Korea become an economic, technological, and military powerhouse and invade the United States. Players take control of a member of the resistance force, Red Dawn style, to fight back against the occupying Korean forces. It’s a solid Call of Duty clone that makes for some cool cinematic (and a bit melodramatic) storytelling, and you certainly can’t beat the price.
Homefront also courted its fair share of controversy when it was released. A viral marketing campaign confused many members of the press into thinking there were truly rising tensions between Korea and the rest of the world. The game was even banned in South Korea for showing a united Korea under rule of the Kim family. Developer THQ denied that they were using tensions in southeast Asia to sell a controversial game.
Homefront’s multiplayer was very well received, but an over six year old game seems unlikely to have a substantial matchmaking field to draw from. Maybe this Humble Bundle offering will inject a few players into the system and you can have a week or so of multiplayer battles.
Homefront was originally released back in 2011, so it seems likely that many Steam users already have this one sitting in their library. If you don’t, however, act fast and snag a copy of the normally $20 game for free. Humble Bundle is offering this deal on Homefront until Saturday, December 9th at 10 AM PST .
