The HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset is a gaming headset that is really geared toward working on PCs but it also works with PS4, Xbox One, Mac, Mobile, Nintendo Switch and VR. It is a lower-end model but, don’t let that deter you. This headset is very durable and has many of the features of your high-end models with a much better price tag!
This is a great headset for gaming, especially when you don’t have a huge amount budgeted for the purchase. In fact, you can get this headset for less than $50.00 and you can still have quality.
With the lower price, I feel you-you can tell where corners were cut not only with design but with packaging. As you can see, there is nothing really spectacular about the packaging of the HyperX Cloud Stinger Headset. But, at the end of the day, is it really about how it’s packaged?
To look at the headset, there isn’t anything “flashy” about it. It is simple in design but it doesn’t look cheap.
The headset is made with a black matte finish and has this red design on the side. It weighs less than a pound (275 grams) which helps with comfort. It isn’t flashy but I find it sharp and classy.
The ear cups which include HyperX signature memory foam cushions are very comfortable and they rotate at a 90-degree angle which helps them to fit better. There are also adjustable steel sliders to help with comfort for long game-playing. Each can has 50mm directional drivers for a quality sound that is parallel to the ear and that gamers can appreciate. The headset also is equipped with noise cancellation features that work pretty well. There are volume control sliders in the back of the ear that are very useful.
The microphone is not detachable which some might find as a con. Also, the microphone didn’t function as well as we would have liked. Depending on how it was used, others heard background noise or sounds that distracted from communication. It’s not perfect and a more expensive headset would be better but if you can’t afford those higher-end models, this does a pretty good job. The microphone also has a swivel-to-mute functionality which means when you put the mic up parallel with the headset it automatically mutes. I thought that was pretty nice.
This extension cable was included with the headset.

How did we like it?
Overall, for the price, the HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset is a very good choice. While testing it out, we found it to be comfortable, durable, and capable of drowning out most noise. Weighing less than a pound, you don’t have the discomfort that comes with heavier models. The ear cushions and the adjustability of the headset also provide comfort that allows for more gameplay before needing a break.
If we had any complaints, it would be the fact that it is wired and, of course, we would have preferred it be wireless. Even so, the wired feature wouldn’t have been so bad except it appears the quality of the jack is not that great and could potentially cause problems over time. Also, the microphone could have been a little better in quality as far as what others were hearing when we talked. A detachable microphone would have been nice, as well, but that wouldn’t be a deal breaker, in my opinion. If you only had $50.00 to spend, this would be a definite consideration.
Where can you buy it?
