Continuing our list which released a couple of months ago, we are back to let you know about a few more indie games currently in development that may be flying under your radar.
OkunoKa
Developer: Giovanni Lo Re
Genre: 2D ‘masocore’ platform
Heroes don’t die, they respawn. An upcoming 2D platformer, OkunoKa has been dubbed by its creators as masocore platformer, as it will be no easy feat to beat the game.
The game is certainly colorful and cheery though, as players will control cute looking creatures, traversing a vibrantly goofy world. OkunoKa will release on Switch, Steam, Windows 10 and Xbox One later this year.
UNSIGHTED
Developer: Tiani Pixel
Genre: Action adventure
Games like the Metroid and the Legend of Zelda have been inspiring indie developers since the dawn of time. I’m not sure I have seen a cyberpunk take on the classic action adventure game yet though.
UNSIGHTED will feature a beautiful world, fluid combat, and a lot of exploration. And like I said before, it’ll all be cyberpunk. What is not to love about that?
Once Upon a Coma
Developer: Thomas Brush, Serenity Forge
Genre: Platformer
If you frequented Newgrounds.com, or one of the hundred of other mini-game sights back in the day, it is entirely likely that you at least came across the cult classic title Coma. Years later, the creator of that game has not only gone on to make a successful indie title, Pinstripe, his next project will be a full-fledged sequel to the mini-game classic.
Once upon a time there was a little boy named Pete who slept peacefully in a coma. When he opened his eyes, he found himself in a nightmare.
Untitled Project by Lam Nguyen
Developer: Lam Nguyen
Genre: Pixel Adventure
Pixel art driven indie games will always be a hot commodity. Part of this can simply be narrowed down to the resources at indie dev artists disposal. But like hand-drawn anime or stop-motion animation, there is such a beauty in the simplicity, especially considering how difficult it can be.
That is exactly what I see when I look at the Untitled Project that solo dev Lam Nguyen constantly post updates to his Twitter account about. Unique lighting, characters, and a world ripped straight from a Studio Ghibli make this one of the most appealing games currently in development, despite not even having a name.
Escape the Game
Developer: Insanity Games
Genre: Platformer
Kevin is fed up with his game. Follow him in this atmospheric, dark and funny journey and fulfill his dreams. Is it even possible to escape?
Adventure one of this meta-comedy about a square block named Kevin has already released on Steam for free, and it’ll likely get you hooked. While no release date for the next episode has been announced, keep an eye out for this simple, yet hilarious, platformer.
Headliner: NoviNews

Genre: Strategy
It’s all FAKE NEWS! That is, if you want it to be. Up and coming Seattle based dev, Unbound Creations, is working on a game that lets you be a reporter.
You are the Headliner, and under your watchful gaze Novistan will thrive or burn. Will you cast aside your friends and family in pursuit of the “truth”? As the Headliner, you choose which news stories get published. Advocate the truth or manipulate it to further your own agenda.
The Superfluous Sand
Developer: Unbound Creations
Genre: Sandbox creation
999 years following the events of The UWN Superfluous’ mission to save the earth the pieces of the asteroid in which the fabled ship destroyed crashed into Earth causing massive destruction and loss of life.
Everything about The Superfluous Sand screams Minecraft. Its original look, top-down perspective, and trial and error gameplay focus are sure to set it apart though.
Bushiden
Developer: Pixel Arc Studios
Genre: Metroidvania
Your sister has vanished, and rumors swirl that Gaoh has been resurrected with an evil army at his command. Explore to gain enough cybernetic upgrades until you are powerful enough to defeat the diabolic Gaoh and his cybergenetic army once and for all in this futuristic, action platformer!
Metroidvania fans will no doubt eat this up, whether its the art style or gameplay.
Kynseed
Developer: Pixel Arc Studios
Genre: Sandbox RPG Adventure
You’ve been given the Kynseed, a mystical acorn that grows into a family tree where your choices manifest in its branches. Raise a family, farm the land, run shops, and explore the world as its inhabitants age around you. When you die, step into the shoes of your children and continue your legacy.
Kynseed gives off major Stardew Valley vibes, and it looks just as pretty as the beloved indie title.
Etherborn
Developer: Altered Matter
Genre: Puzzle Platformer
Etherborn is a third-person environmental puzzle platformer built on exploring and understanding gravity-shifting structures. You are a voiceless being that has just been born into a world where a bodiless voice awaits your arrival.
The game’s visuals alone are enough to sell it to most. Add in the unique puzzle and perspective concepts and you’ve got yourself a hit.
Decay of Logos
Developer: Amplify Creations
Genre: Third-Person action-RPG
A game described as Zelda meets Dark Souls (yep, hit on on both cliches here); Decay of Logos will focus a lot on exploration.
The game is set in an expansive high-fantasy world where the player coexists with the likes of kings, knights, wizards, ancient species and various other mythical creatures. In Decay of Logos, you will journey through an ancient kingdom ruled by a warring King.
Röki
Developer: Amplify Creations
Genre: Polygon Treehouse
Did your parents ever tell you not to go out and play in the woods alone? Well, Röki will show you why you shouldn’t (or maybe should).
Join Trove on a fantastical journey, as she explores folklore and discovers monsters that shouldn’t exist. Help her save her family, as well as discover who she really is.
Crying Suns
Developer: Crying Suns
Genre: Rouge-lite, Tactical
Crying Suns is a rogue-lite and tactical game where you explore a dying galaxy as a space fleet commander. As a deep story-driven game experience, each successful run will uncover a part of the underlying truth about the fall of the Galactic Empire.
The game combines stunning visuals, that feature mix between pixel art style graphics, 3D and HD special effects, and an interesting story. Prepare to die very often, it’s a rogue-lite game… And it’s a hard one.
Pixel Starships
Developer: Savy Soda
Genre: 8-bit MMORPG
Have you ever wanted to own your own starship? Well here is your chance! Sorta…
Welcome to Pixel Starships, the world’s first full control starship management strategy sci-fi MMORPG game in an 8-bit massive online universe. While the game is currently available, it is still in the earlier stages of Early Access as opposed to a full release.
Forgive Me My Henchmen
Developer: Eezy Street
Genre: 2D tower defense
We’ve all seen a movie in which the main villain values his henchmen more as tools and less as actual human beings. Well, now you have the chance to be the boss in Forgive Me My Henchmen.
Play as the typical action movie evil mastermind – deploy henchmen and sabotage a building to delay a one-man army!
The Dino Run 2
Developer: Pixeljam
Genre: Racing side-scroller
The sequel to the beloved 2008 flash game where players controlled a side-scroller velociraptor, this game is going to be a whole lot bigger after reaching funding earlier this year.
In Dino Run 2, the thrill of running for your life becomes even more intense. Run, dodge, and jump perfectly in order to escape the deadly monster right behind you.
Piko Piko
Developer: Rūkasu Marquet
Genre: Adventure Platformer
Piko Piko is an adventure platform action game with visual novel elements where you play as Piko, a little blacksmith girl with a big heart hammer. Piko lives in a peaceful world, but that all changes when strange shakes start to happen. The game features cute characters, fast gameplay and tons of NPC interactions.
While simplistic, Piko Piko’s choice to combine the adventure, platforming, and visual novel genres result in some interesting possibilities.
Swords of Calengal
Developer: United Lines
Genre: 2D action-RPG
There are few games on this list, or in general. that I am more excited for then Swords of Calengal.
Taking inspiration from the dungeons of Zelda and the battle system of Kingdom Hearts, this indie game will feature a unique combat system, different sets of monsters and puzzles for every dungeon, and an ability system that will extend actions.
If all of that isn’t enough, the game looks beautiful too.
The Birdcage
Developer: Capricia Productions
Genre: Action-Adventure music
The Birdcage is an Action-Adventure Music Video Game! A first of a kind music album that is experienced entirely through a video game featuring world-renowned artists like Guns N Roses, Evanescence, and more!
Based on The Beauty and the Beast, you play as Gitta, a beautiful young girl who tries to escape from the ever-changing prison of her capture – Bres. Will you be able to run away?
The thought of playing a musical in video game form is very enticing. Whether is supportive, non-diegetic background noise or actual singing, I think that this musical element could open up a lot of doors for unique video games.
AWAY: The Survival Series
Developer: Breaking Walls
Genre: Animal adventure
AWAY: The Survival Series is an animal-based adventure game set in a distant, human-less future. Narrated like a nature documentary, AWAY takes you on the Sugar Glider’s journey across a decaying planet as you piece together the mysterious origins of your world.
The game looks to provide a one of a kind experience moving around as an animal. Come on; we have all wanted to feel what it was like to be a Sugar Glider.
Armortale
Developer: PixelABCD
Genre: Action adventure
Games like Zelda and Mario tend to inspire a lot of games even to this day. But the developer behind Armortale is taking inspiration from a hidden gem that was released back in the NES days known as Little Samson.
The title, currently being made in RPG maker, will even feature an NES palette to make the game look like it was released back in the day.
Yuppie Psycho

What is worse than mundane office work? Working at a place that is cursed by a witch that is trying to kill or drive you and your co-workers insane!
Nine months after the debut of their first chilling adventure, The Count Lucanor, which explored the horror lurking under the surface of fairytales, Baroque Decay presents its next survival horror project: Yuppie Psycho. In this game, we will meet Brian as he begins the first day of his job at a large corporation that has fallen under the curse of a witch.
