Season 1 of Luke Cage saw Simone Missick quickly become a fan favorite for her portrayal of Misty Knight, a skilled detective know for her ability to visualize crime scenes through viewing photos.
The first season of the Netflix original saw her help Luke Cage in many ways, helping him take down Cottonmouth (to an extent) and Diamondback. Knight even managed to brave the danger despite the luxury of bulletproof skin like Luke.
And while the detective escaped Luke Cage with a flesh wound at the end of season one, she wasn’t so lucky at the end of Season 1 of The Defenders. After a fight with Bakuto, her right arm is sliced off below the elbow when she dives to stop Bakuto from decapitating Claire
In the comics, Knight receives her arm from Tony Stark. But outside of a few insignificant references to the MCU, the Netflix shows have had little to no interaction or consequence with the movies. As a result, Misty has never interacted with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. Instead, Danny Rand – who is also a tech billionaire – arranges for her to receive a new bionic arm.
In the newly released promo images for season 2 we get to see the new arm in action. The images show Luke and Misty fighting thugs – and if it wasn’t a mismatch before, it definitely is now.
Alongside the new images above, a synopsis of the second season has been released.
“After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.”
Luke Cage season 2 will premiere on Netflix this summer, June 22, 2018.
