Since it was unveiled at Microsoft’s E3 2017 showcase in June, we’ve gotten a good look at Assassin’s Creed: Origins, including details about its brand new story and a look at how the series is shying away from some of its staple and formulaic gameplay elements that we’ve experienced these last ten years. After many rumors, the reveal at E3 confirmed that this next installment will be taking place in Ancient Egypt and will be the biggest world in any of the Assassin’s Creed games to date. Today, Ubisoft released a new story trailer for Origins entitled “Game of Power”, which features three of the most famous figures in history: Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, and Ptolemy XIII.
The trailer cuts to each ruler, as they attempt to gather their armies and secure regions of Egypt as their own. “Egypt is divided,” the voice over says. “Vast armies amass, while great leaders conspire.” We then hear about each of the leader’s personalities and the ruthless measures they will take in order to claim the region- or in Cleopatra’s case, reclaim what is hers by birthright. The fate of Egypt will ultimately rest in the hands of the Assassins, who are obviously no strangers to political turmoil and scandal. This new trailer offers fans a taste of what’s in store when they pick up Origins this fall.
Ubisoft is touting Assassin’s Creed: Origins as a new beginning for the series and invites you to discover the origin story of the Assassin’s Brotherhood while exploring one of the greatest empires in history. In addition to how expansive the world is in Origins, Ubisoft Montreal also re-designed the combat and quest system. Instead of those tedious counter kills experienced in every fight, players will now have more freedom and control during enemy encounters; and as far as the story is concerned, players will “come across many intense, emotional, and memorable stories that paint a larger picture of the world and its people.”
Assassin’s Creed: Origins will release on October 27, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and PC.
