Olivia Newton-John Comic? Tell Me More, Tell Me More, Tell Me More!
Olivia Newton-John’s life is celebrated in the comic by writer Sandra Ruckdeschel and illustrators Alessandro Miracolo and Pablo Martinena. It also features an epilogue from Michael Frizell. The issue features 34-pages telling the life of the singer, actress, and activist. From her rise to fame after “Grease” to her philanthropic work later in life, the issue is the perfect companion for any Newton-John fan. Plus, it is available in both print and Digital formats, as well as hardback and paperback editions.
In a press release, TidalWave Comic’s publisher Darren G. Davis shared how “honored [they were] to work with Olivia on a comic years ago.” The insight and information she offered then is being used for this new commemorative issue. Davis continues to say that she was an inspiration and a perfect fit for the “Tribute” line of comics that honor those who make a difference in the world.
Honoring An Icon
Olivia Newton-John first gained notoriety after her turn as Sandy in the 1970 classic “Grease.” From there, she went on to nab several top-ten hits, including her iconic 80’s anthem “Physical.” Throughout her fabulous career, the actress and singer faced several cancer diagnoses. These spurred her to bring awareness and education to the illness that affects so many around the globe. Her foundation has pioneered the battle against the disease for many years. A portion of the proceeds for the issue is donated to the ONJ Foundation.
Writer Sandra Ruckdeschel gushes about this dream job. As someone who grew up “idolizing” Olivia, researching her life didn’t even feel like work. It was a wonderful opportunity for Ruckdeschel to create something that expresses who Olivia was in life.
Alongside the initial cover, TidalWave Comics is releasing two exclusive variants available at Comic Flea Market. One comes from artist Joe Paradise and the other from Paulo Teles Yonami. The issue is available for pre-order on Amazon now.
