Nearly everyone who has a connection to the series has a “favorite” Pokemon or two. For some, it may be one of the more common, “mascot-y” characters like Pikachu or Eevee. Personally, I’ve always thought Oddish was straight up adorable, and Lapras was always my powerhouse. Pokemon is such a huge franchise that spans so many ages and forms of media that you could probably find a diehard fan of every single pocket monster out there.
No matter your favorite, The Pokemon Company has you covered. Hold on to your wallets, because soon you will be able to purchase official plushies of all 151 original collectible creatures. From lowly Pidgeys and Rattatas to legendaries like Articuno and Zapdos, all of the originals will get an official release. Check out some of them here:
Destructoid had the details from the official Pokemon site, and had a bit more information about the upcoming plush line. A starting line up will release this Friday, July 13, at Pokemon Centers in Japan. This initial release will only feature thirty of the plushies – count on the most popular and well known creatures, like Pikachu and Jigglypuff. November will see the release of the full set. Each figure will run 1,110 yen, or about $10. Even if you have several favorites, that won’t break the bank.
Even though Pokemon never went away, it has certainly been surging lately. Pokemon GO has made a bit of a comeback with the addition of trading and friend lists, and this summer has seen a few big events for the game already and will see a few more in the coming month. The Destructoid article about these plush figures mentions importing; it remains unclear whether or not these toys will make the jump to stateside, but we’ll keep you posted. If you are ordering some from Japan, make sure you grab from the “Pokemon Fit” line.
