Over the past year, Sugar Pine 7 has found a tremendous amount of success, joining Rooster Teeth, passing 1 million subscribers on Youtube, and winning a Streamy award for best show. They have even created a horror short film, The Woods, recently as well. In the beginning though, the show simply revolved around the lives and relationships of a core group of characters, one of which being an awkward kid named Parker.
Along with Steven Suptic, James DeAngelis, and Clayton James (Cib), Parker Coppins helped make Sugar Pine 7 what it is today. His character would usually play the role of the goofy, awkward friend in the show’s bits.
Later in season one though, his character showed signs of complexity, as the show introduced a storyline in which he falls for Cib’s girlfriend Sami Jo. Not only did this feature a good range of acting from Coppins, it also resulted in a different, more serious direction for the otherwise comedy-driven show. So much so that the first season ended with Cib accidentally killing Parker out of anger.
In reality, Coppins had just signed on with Disney for a new show called Parker Plays airing on Disney XD. As a result, he wouldn’t have as much time on his hand – alongside Disney’s policies regarding content their stars could be in – to do bits in the show. So they killed off his character.
However, the most recent Sugar Pine 7 video reveals that Parker may actually be coming back. At the end of “Day of the dead dude,” a hand can be seen popping out of a grave. A combination of things that occurred in the episode, final scene, and in prior videos reveals it is likely Parkers hand.
First, the gravestone’s date of death is July 28th, 2017. The video in which Parker is killed off, “Akrasia,” aired on July 28th, 2017.
While the gravestone is blocked by flowers for the first half of it, the second half of the letters are legible, reading CHGHY. One of Sugar Pine 7’s earlier video series, AntiSocial – confirmed as cannon during the treasure hunt episodes – Parker is first introduced as Parker McGhghy. So the only letters blocked on the tombstone are Parker M.
Plenty of hints in the actual episode are dropped as well. A pentagram (Parker’s possession), Sami Jo’s hair on James, Cib saying he was guilty of the death of the bachelor. Couple all this with the fact that Cib and James recently shot footage with Coppins for Cib’s channel for The Pond trailer, and that Parker Play’s first season could likely already be filmed, and you’ve got a recipe for Parker’s return.
