Unfortunate news today, as Bandai Namco has announced that the Windows PC version of New Gundam Breaker has been delayed until later this Summer due to concerns over the quality of the current build. The PlayStation 4 version is still on track to release on June 22nd, 2018 in North America and June 21st in Japan. The quote from Bandai Namco’s official twitter is as follows.
“NEW GUNDAM BREAKER for PC Steam is postponed to a later date during summer 2018. we decided that extra development time was needed to achieve a qualitative experience for the first game of the Gundam Breaker series on PC. The PS4 version release date remains on June 22nd.”
This does seem like sad news, but keep in mind that delaying a game for quality control is a good thing and something that should be happening more often if we are being honest. So if you were ready to get your Gunpla action on via Steam, you’ll have to wait a little while longer, or you could pick up the PlayStation 4 version.
For those unfamiliar with New Gundam Breaker, it is the fourth game in the Gundam Breaker series which debuted on the PlayStation 3 back in 2013. This is the first to run on the Unreal 4 engine and the first to see an official North American release. The game focuses on Gunpla, which are the popular model kits that are based on the long-running anime franchise. Notable for its fun gameplay and extreme level of customization, the Gundam Breaker series has a lot of diehard fans. Though this will be the first time fans in North America will be able to play an official release.
We will keep you updated on any new developments ahead on the game’s PlayStation 4 release later this month.
