Ever seen those Pikachu and Charizard caps they have on the shelves in places like Hot Topic and Spencers? Kirby is about to join the lineup of game character headwear in a cozy fluffy hat. This hat is designed after the Kirby hat available for players to put on their Miis in the 3DS Mii Plaza. As with all things game- and anime-related, the hat is currently only in Japan, and will make its way to store shelves in February. Though a western shipment hasn’t been mentioned, it’s likely only a matter of time.
Play Asia is handling online orders for the hat as I write this, and the price is $30. That’s more than I would pay for a hat, even if it is pink, soft and warm and almost the size of the actual thing. If Kirby were real, that is.

This is what a human looks like after inhaling Kirby and copying his abilities.
The Kirby hat itself has a head opening of a little over a foot though the other measurements suggest a size smaller than that. Translate 190 x 240 millimeters into feet and you will find a decimal, but change the 58 cm opening and you get slightly larger than one foot. Also, the cartoony picture suggests the Kirby hat is large enough to cover the wearer’s skull, leading to some confusion on the hat’s actual size. Plus, no age range is given, so I strongly suggest taking a measuring tape to your head before ordering. Or, you could just, you know, wait until it ships to stores here and try it on then.
