The British actor, Roy Dotrice has died at age 94. Reports say that Dotrice died at his London home surrounded by family, including his three daughters, grandchildren, and his great-grandson.
His best-known roles were in the revival of A Moon for the Misbegotten and Amadeus (1984) as the composer’s father, Leopold Mozart. Some fans may know Dotrice from Season 2 of Game of Thrones as the Wisdom Hallyne, the pyromancer. As well as playing the pyromancer, Dotrice recorded audiobooks for every George R. R. Martin A Song of Ice and Fire novels.
A few years ago, Dotrice served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, and he ended up imprisoned in a German war camp from 1942 to 1945. He was born in Guernsey on 26 May 1923 and passed away on 16 October 2017.
A few people have taken to Twitter to send their condolences, such as Armin Shimerman. Shimerman, an actor who played the Ferengi bartender, Quark, in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine said: “To the friends & family of Roy Dotrice, I quote his favorite playwright ‘I shall not look upon his like again.’ He was a good friend and I loved him.”

Frazer Hines, an English actor who played Jamie McCrimmon in Doctor Who and Joe Sugden in Emmerdale, also posted: “I’ve lost a dear friend in Roy Dotrice today. RIP.”
Ron Perlman, an American actor who played Vincent on the television series Beauty and the Beast: “Love you dear Pop. Forever and ever. You were the best of us. My heart is broken… See you up top. XoxO Roy Dotrice.”
Dotrice married Kay Newman who is a television and stage actress from 1947. She sadly passed away in 2007. The couple had three daughters called Karen, Michele and Yvette, along with seven grandchildren. One of the daughters, Karen Dotrice, played Jane Banks in Disney’s Mary Poppins.
