YouTube channel Sugar Pine 7 has revealed that their upcoming short film will be titled Murder Pine. The Alternative Reality Vloggers unveiled the title earlier this week on their weekly podcast Beyond the Pine, episode #7 “We’re Making a Movie.”
Steven Suptic has stated he has large ambitions for the group ever since he left Sourcefed and devoted all of his time to planning, filming, and editing shots for their skits. Suptic has stated that he will spend all day doing things oriented to Sugar Pine 7, getting little sleep because of how long he stays up editing and how early he gets up to work on things.
Since joining Roosterteeth though, not only has their audience grow – surpassing 1 Million subscribers on YouTube earlier this year – but so has their budget. With the breathing room provided by joining the company, it has allowed Sugar Pine 7 to allot time and resources to Murder Pine.
On the podcast, Suptic revealed that the plot would not fall into the same continuity that the videos on the channel do. Instead, Murder Pine will tell its own story. While most of their videos are improve, with loose ideas, character traits, and plot points, the movie will be treated far more seriously.
We’ve gotten a glimpse into what Sugar Pine 7 could do acting and filming wise thanks to their first season finale, in which they feature a very dramatic scene in which Cib killed Parker. Since then they have gone back to their usual comedy sketches, even making light of the dramatic situation in the finale for the most part of the current season.
While the plot of Murder Pine has not been revealed, Suptic did say that it would be getting released on their YouTube channel October 31, 2017, Halloween night. Roosterteeth First members will be able to see the short film one week before everyone else though, just like other videos Roosterteeth puts on their site.
