The highly anticipated X-Men Gold #30 released recently and sold out in no time. Fans had been looking forward to X-Men Gold #30 for the wedding between Kitty and Colossus.
Kitty Pryde is a mutant with the ability to “phase” through solid matter by shifting her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she is moving. Kitty can phase her clothing along with herself, and through practice has learned to phase other objects and people without harm to them. Kitty possesses moderate expertise of the martial arts of the Japanese ninja and samurai.
Colossus can transform his body tissue into an organic, steel-like substance that grants him superhuman strength enabling him to lift/press up to 75 tons and makes him impervious to most injury. Colossus is talented in drawing and painting.
After months of anticipation, everything was set for the wedding and it seemed this fan-favorite couple were ready to tie the knot when fans were greeted with a rather shocking twist; the wedding wasn’t going to happen…
Kitty proposed to Piotr in X-Men Gold #20, following a trip to the Negative Zone that almost took his life. And that’s an immediate distinction from most other superhero couples. The pair has been through a lot. Kitty’s concern for his life is well-founded. Afterall, she’s been through his death before. What’s more, it’s entirely possible the roles could reverse at some point, and Kitty is a smart girl. She knows this. One of the things that really helps to inform this decision is the history of the relationship, including all the dying, the breaking up, the rekindling, all of it. It’s been a tumultuous journey, for certain. But that’s to be expected from superhero relationships. Especially when both parties are superheroes.
In January, Kitty Pryde, the leader of this group of X-Men, proposed to her teammate, Piotr (“Peter”) Rasputin, and the current storyline, “Til Death Do Us Part,” has been marching toward their big day. But in Wednesday’s issue — spoilers ahead — after a tough heart-to-heart talk with her best friend, who is also the groom’s sister, the would-be bride gets cold feet.
It’s not all sad news though, with love in the air and a wedding party waiting, two other mutants decide to get hitched: Gambit and Rogue. Their adventures as newlyweds will be chronicled in Mr. and Mrs. X, a new series beginning in July.
I’ve been gaming on consoles for over 15 years. I mainly play on Xbox and PlayStation but I also enjoy other systems.
