1000-Lb Sisters is back for a fourth season, but it seems it’s not all good news for sisters Amy and Tammy Slaton as they struggle to turn their health around. A sneak peek into the upcoming season ahead of its premiere date showed Tammy Slaton face a life-threatening health scare that left her hospitalized and in need of respiratory support.
1000-Lb Sisters Tammy Slaton Stopped Breathing Before Being Hospitalized
In the 1000-Lb Sisters teaser, the family of Tammy Slaton expressed concerns over her health after she quit breathing and got hospitalized. According to her sister, Amy Slaton, her body shut down, leading them to rush her to the hospital.
Upon hospitalization, Tammy underwent a tracheotomy, which involved creating a hole in the throat to insert a breathing tube. The tube would enable the patient to have access to emergency breathing support at any time. Thankfully, the surgical procedure stabilized the reality star’s condition to some extent. A delighted Tammy bragged to viewers that she was “still here.”
Tammy Remains On Her Quest For Better Health
For Tammy Slaton, her quest to lose weight, documented on 1000-Lb Sisters, was more than just a quest to attain some preset body goals. Rather, she has reached a point in her journey where her longevity depends on her losing weight. Elsewhere in the clip, the 36-year-old and her doctor discussed the gravity of her condition.
She asked her surgeon, Dr. Eric Smith, if he could approve her for bariatric surgery. In response, the doctor pointed out that she still had significant weight to lose before the procedure. He added:
“I told you Tammy, you have real risks.”
Despite the doctor’s reluctance, Tammy’s brother pointed out that if she didn’t undergo bariatric surgery at this point, she would die because of her weight. The clip highlighted the TV personality’s declining health in another scene. This time, doctors sprung to her bedside after screaming that her “oxygen’s dropping.” Her family members stared on helplessly in a feat of emotion, fearing she may breathe her last.
Meanwhile, Amy Slaton also had some screen time amid the whole drama. While she was not hospitalized with breathing difficulties like Tammy Slaton, the 35-year-old faced some health struggles of her own as she navigated her second pregnancy with her husband, Michael.
