The 2022 Eisner Awards nominations are in, and two publishers are leading the pack. DC Comics is in the lead with 15 individual nominations and seven shared. Meanwhile, Image Comics is a close second with 14 individual nominations and four shared. The rest of the nominees are up on the Comic-Con website. The 2022 Eisner Awards Nominations
Five of the nominations for DC Comics went to Nightwing. The series earned nods for Best Continuing Series and Best Single Issue. West Abbott got recognition with a Best Lettering nomination for the series. Meanwhile, Best Penciller/Inker and Cover Artist nominations went to Bruno Redondo. Beyond Nightwing, Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons nabbed four nominations. They include Best Single Issue and Best Writer for Kelly Sue DeConnick. The series also got Best Penciller/Inker for Phil Jimenez and Best Lettering to Clayton Cowles.
Meanwhile, Image Comics nabbed a few of its 14 nominations for the Destroy All Monsters (A Reckless Book) series. It received a nomination for Best Graphic Album – New, Best Writer for Ed Brubaker, and Best Coloring for Jacob Phillips. Also, the publisher has two nominees in the Best Continuing Series with Bitter Root and The Department of Truth. Plus, The Good Asian and Stray Dogs both received Best Limited Series nods. Radiant Black and Ultramega are both nominated for Best New Series.
The Rest of the Nominees
Beyond DC and Image, Fantagraphics received 11 nominations. It holds three of the six nominations in the Best Archival Collection – Comic Books category. It also received three of the five nominations in the Best Publication Design category. Similarly, IDW and its subsidiary Top Shelf also grabbed 11 nominations. They are led by Ballad for Sophie from Filipe Melo and Juan Cavia. The book received nods for Best Graphic Album – New and Best U.S. Edition of International Material. It also got the Best Writer and Best Painter/Multimedia Artist nominations.
Other nominees include VIZ Media with eight nominations and Marvel Comics with seven nominations. Meanwhile, Boom Studios grabbed seven individual and three shared nominations. Also, Abrams and Dark Horse netted five nominations, Magnetic Press received four, and Oni got two individual and two shared. You can check out the full list over at Comic-Con’s website.
