Microsoft is finally rolling out the much-anticipated Windows 11 OS. A first look reveals that a lot of work went into the user interface and the user experience. These are three of the best features of the all-new Windows 11.
New and Improved UI
Microsoft gave Windows 11 a sleek user interface. The new start menu has a simple and methodical design. And now, it displays not just apps but also recently accessed files.
Additionally, the taskbar is now centered. And it pops up and goes full menu when you move the cursor across it. But this is only a default setting, so that you can change it back to “Windows 10” mode.
Another distinct feature is that file explorer, apps, and other opened Windows will now have curved edges instead of the conventional straight corners.
Sideloading Apps
Microsoft says Windows 11 will allow you to run Android apps on your PC. In other words, you’re no longer restricted to the Windows Store. You can now download choice apps from various sources: Google Play Store, Amazon App Store, etc.
Previously, third-party apps like BlueStacks made this possible – to an extent – on older versions of Microsoft Windows. But the new Windows 11 can independently host and support Android APKs.
This is great news for developers and users alike.
Microsoft’s Windows 11 is Free
Perhaps the best feature of the Windows 11 is that it is a free upgrade. All you need is a compatible PC and a strong internet connection. But that means low-end PCs might not be able to support the new OS – with the high-end graphics and all.
Microsoft says the PC Health Check app will diagnose your computer and tell you if you can install Windows 11.
But not to worry. If you can’t upgrade to Windows 11 now, that’s fine. You can stick with Windows 10 because Microsoft will keep supporting it for a few more years.
Are you giddy to get started on Windows 11 yet? That’s great, but maybe you should wait. New upgrades like this are often laden with bugs. It’ll take a bit of time for Microsoft to perfect Windows 11. So, sit back, relax, and wait for the complete version. And you’ll enjoy the perks of the all-new OS.
