We’ll soon be able to see Geralt in all his 4K glory because The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting the PlayStation 4 Pro treatment. During a financial report via webcast, CD Projekt Red President Adam Kiciński announced the update would be coming in “just a few days” and that by the end of the year we’ll also be seeing it updated for the Xbox One X. The PS4 Pro update isn’t that surprising given that it was first revealed at E3 2017, but now we’re that much closer to a release date.
The Witcher 3 released in the Spring of 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, with a Game of the Year Edition following in August of 2016. The in-game card game is known as Gwent also received its own spinoff for multi-platforms, and it was just recently announced a Netflix series is in development. Through all of this, players’ excitement and support for The Witcher 3 hasn’t dwindled. If anything it’s only gotten stronger, because, during the webcast, CD Projekt Red revealed the game is still “selling phenomenally well”.
The overall success of the game lends itself well to receiving a 4K update for the mid-generation consoles. It not only will be a treat for those familiar with the game to see some smoother and more vibrant graphics, but it will also be great for anyone experiencing The Witcher 3 for the first time.
Outside of CD Projekt Red’s webcast, we don’t know have any more information about the 4K update for the PS4 Pro, but we are expected to be getting more news in the next couple of days. Even for those who don’t have a mid-gen console, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can still be enjoyed on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
