Despite starting the season as a fan favorite, Gabe Paboga’s relationship with 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is at its lowest. The 90 Day Fiancé franchise got its first transgender storyline when Season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way premiered on January 29. Fans met Gabe Paboga, a transgender man from Margate, Florida, in a relationship with Isabel Posada, a Colombia native.
Gabe and Isabel’s 90 Day Fiancé Relationship
Gabe and Isabel met at the home of a mutual friend during one of Gabe’s business trips to Colombia. The two shared an instant connection and have been nearly inseparable ever since. In 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 4, Gabe permanently relocates to Colombia to start a life with Isabel, and despite initial fears regarding their transgender plot, the two completely blow the fans away with their seamless relationship and genuine love for each other.
The duo has been a breath of fresh air in a season marked by drama. They have also given fans some rare quality and educating moments. Despite the pressure on Gabe Paboga as the first transgender in the franchise, his great personality shone through. He quickly became a 90 Day Fiancé fan favorite. However, Gabe’s questionable displays in recent episodes have split the fanbase. For the first time this season, the jury is out on him. Many fans now feel Gabe isn’t the angel everyone once thought. Here are four signs that have made fans reach this conclusion.
Gabe Is Creating Friction Between His Family and Isabel
Gabe won the hearts of 90 Day Fiancé viewers this season due to his kind-hearted nature. Nonetheless, fans have gradually noticed that Gabe loves playing the victim. For instance, in recent episodes, his tendency to incite trouble around him has put him at odds with fans. Most significantly, he has been found guilty of causing friction between his family and Isabel.
He would even go as far as manipulating situations to put himself in that position. From the beginning, Gabe’s family had reservations about his relationship with Isabel, and they didn’t support his move to Colombia. Since then, he has only worsened the situation by constantly painting Isabel as a villain to his family. He once told his family that Isabel was manipulative, leading to them having several misconceptions about her. Similarly, he has no qualms about painting his family as manipulators when talking with Isabel.
Things reached breaking point on the show when he recently returned to the US to inform his family about his marriage plans with Isabel. Gabe met up with his sister, Monica, who told him to get a prenup before marrying Isabel. Although Gabe refused, he stirred more trouble when he returned to Colombia.
He told Isabel his family was pushing him to get a prenup. His antagonistic behavior has placed his family and Isabel on a collision course. While he does well to paint himself as neutral, his actions further damage the already fragile relationship between Isabel and his family members.
90 Day Fiancé Gabe Loves Starting Drama
As much as Gabe tries to feign that he doesn’t like getting caught in the middle, his actions on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 4 tend to prove otherwise. One of the first signs of trouble in Gabe’s relationship with Isabel was how the poor handling of his business caused drama between the couple. Initially, Gabe cut across as drama-free. However, he earned a reputation for needlessly rocking the boat as the season progressed.
Gabe’s approach to handling his business since his move to Colombia disappointed viewers. He seems to lack any actual plans for moving the business forward. Based on what they have watched, many fans agree that he is a terrible businessman. However, what has triggered fans the most is how he treats Isabel whenever she offers to help in any aspect of his business.
Gabe always shuts Isabel down. In one particular episode, he drew the ire of fans when he famously said he “felt emasculated” when Isabel offered her help with his business. Gabe also puts Isabel in a difficult position when attempting to get her to choose between him and her family before revealing his gender. He wanted her to proceed with their wedding plans, even if it came at the cost of her not speaking with her parents anymore.
Gabe Is Always Seeking a Villain
Some parts of Gabe and Isabel’s 90 Day Fiancé storyline centered on whether her strict, religious parents would accept him. Gabe’s identity as a transgender man added complexity to their relationship dynamic, making acceptance an even more significant issue. For so long in the season, this appeared to be the only stumbling block on their path. Many of the show’s viewers genuinely prayed for a positive resolution to the matter. After all the suspense, the moment of truth finally came. Isabel’s parents surprisingly welcomed Gabe into their family after he told them he was a transgender man.
Despite the parents’ admission of not foreseeing such a situation, they had given their blessings for the duo to proceed. However, immediately after the meeting, fans watched as Gabe questioned the true intentions of Isabel’s parents. Even after their approval, he remained skeptical, which also surprised Isabel. Gabe’s only reason for being suspicious of their motives was that everything in his life had been complicated.
He then didn’t expect Isabel’s parents to accept him that easily. Instead of being happy, Gabe was looking to paint her parents as pretenders. Gabe’s reaction drew much criticism from 90 Day Fiancé fans, who believe he intentionally sought out a villain in his life. The fans believe Gabe attempted to impose a narrative on Isabel’s parents without any valid reason to doubt them.
Gabe Makes His Whole Existence About His Gender
Gabe’s actions, like the signs and unnecessary gender references, have put him in the wrong book of certain 90-Day Fiancé fans. These behaviors make him difficult to watch for many viewers, especially when he brings up his gender in unrelated conversations. Most 90-Day Fiancé fans feel he bases his entire existence on his gender and has grown tired of watching him on the show.
On Reddit, user GraciadelPrado ignited debate with a post titled “I’m so sick of Gabe,” expressing frustrations about him. Fans flooded the comments, voicing their displeasure with Gabe’s behavior and how he carries himself on the show. One user, tamadrummer 05, emphasized this writing,
“Couldn’t agree more. I fast forward through his segment. Oh, did he mention he was trans? It’s like, dude. We know. You feel the need to tell everyone every 2 minutes.”
More recently, fans re-echoed these sentiments underneath a Reddit thread with the caption, “For the first time, I felt a dislike for Gabe,” many of the show’s fans highlighted how Gabe has become more difficult to watch with each episode. The users noted that Gabe always tried to avoid taking responsibility for his actions by hiding behind his gender and playing the victim.
In the most recent episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 4, Gabe’s insecurities have been laid bare, quickly making him a villainous character. Crucially, it threatens to derail his relationship with Isabel, which may eventually be the outcome if he doesn’t conjure up a 180 change in attitude.
