A new display called the “Scientology Walk of Shame” has appeared near the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California, drawing attention to several celebrities with ties to Scientology. The installation features cutouts of well-known figures including Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Elisabeth Moss, Nancy Cartwright, and others. Created by former Scientologist Aaron Smith-Levin, the display is intended to highlight the role celebrity supporters have played in promoting California Scientology over the years.

The display gained attention after Smith-Levin shared a short video of it on YouTube and TikTok under the username @asmithlevin. The clip quickly attracted hundreds of thousands of likes and generated hundreds of comments from viewers discussing both Scientology and the celebrities featured in the display. Many were entertained by the stunt, while others used it as an opportunity to debate the organization’s influence in Hollywood.

Although the video lasts only about 15 seconds, it clearly shows rows of celebrity cutouts set up near the famous tourist attraction. Each cutout reportedly includes a QR code that visitors can scan to learn more about that person’s connection to the Church of Scientology. The goal appears to be raising awareness about the number of public figures linked to Scientology and encouraging passersby to research the organization themselves.

Smith-Levin has been one of Scientology’s most outspoken critics since leaving the organization. He frequently discusses his experiences growing up within the Church and has accused Scientology of operating as a cult rather than a religion. According to Smith-Levin, the Walk of Shame is another effort to bring attention to influential supporters of Scientology and the role celebrities have played in shaping the organization’s public image.

Among the celebrities featured, Tom Cruise remains one of the most recognizable faces associated with Scientology. Cruise joined the Church in the 1980s and has publicly credited Scientology’s Study Technology with helping him manage dyslexia. He has also maintained a long-standing friendship with Scientology leader David Miscavige and has been one of the religion’s most visible advocates. His support for Scientology has generated controversy over the years, including criticism of programs he promoted and claims from former members that he attempted to introduce other celebrities to the organization.

California Display Sparks Online Debate

The display sparked a wide range of reactions online, with much of the discussion focusing on who was included and who was left out. Numerous commenters suggested additional names, including Chloe Fineman and Will Smith, while others questioned whether celebrities such as Emily Armstrong and John Travolta should still be associated with Scientology today.

Several users argued that Armstrong is no longer an active member, while others pointed out that she has never publicly denounced the organization and previously attended Danny Masterson’s trial. Travolta’s status also became a topic of debate, with some commenters claiming he distanced himself from Scientology following the death of his son, while others insisted he remains connected to the Church.

Beyond the membership debates, many viewers expressed surprise at learning about the alleged Scientology ties of certain celebrities, while others focused on the more humorous aspects of the display. “You learn something new every day and now I’m sad,” one user wrote.

The comments section turned into a mix of celebrity speculation, fact-checking, humor, criticism, and broader debate about religion and personal beliefs. The strong response highlighted how divisive Scientology remains online, including outside California, especially when well-known public figures are involved.
