The announcement came in unexpectedly. A fan on A Plague Tale’s Twitter account replied to one of their posts, saying, “What a beautiful day to announce gold,” not really expecting them to do it, but they ended up revealing the news. Fans were delighted to hear the news about A Plague Tale: Requiem going gold as many games are getting delayed.
What does it mean by a game going gold?
“Gold” is an industry term for a game that is completed. It means that there are no unfinished areas in the game and that a master copy can be produced. The master copy is then used to make duplicates that are sent out to be sold. Now, the developers will focus on squashing all the bugs and polishing the game before it hits the shelves. In basic terms, going gold means the game is ready to be sold, which is why it is celebrated by the developers.
It also allows gamers to relax as once a game has gone gold, a delay is unlikely. However, there are still chances (very few) of the game getting delayed, as we have seen previously with Cyberpunk 2077, which got delayed after it went gold.
A Plague Tale: Requiem will continue Amicia and Hugo’s journey in a brutal but breathtaking world filled with twisted supernatural forces. Hugo’s power will reawaken, causing the siblings to flee once more in this heartrending journey.
Asobo’s upcoming epic builds on its predecessor, which became a cult classic and scored 4/5 stars in our review of the game. A Plague Tale: Requiem launches for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch (cloud version), and PC via Steam on October 18, 2022. It will also be included in Microsoft’s subscription service, Xbox Game Pass.
