Earlier today Paramount Pictures released the long awaited A Quiet Place 2 trailer, and let me tell you it’s a sequel not many people asked for but are now dying to see.
The trailer gives us a glimpse of the events leading up to where we found the Abbott family in the first film, A Quiet Place (2018), and also explores the world after the events of the first movie. The trailer opens with Emily Blunt’s character opening a door leaving some unknown cellar and then transitions to the events that took place on “Day 1” of the phonophobic monster apocalypse.
SPOILER ALERT! John Krasinski, best known for his role as Jim Halpert in The Office and the main character, writer, and director of A Quiet Place, does not appear in the trailer following his character’s death in the first film. And while the majority of the trailer, and presumably the whole movie, takes place after the events of the first film Krasinski does not appear in any of the scenes depicting what happened leading up to the first film. However, Krasinski is the writer and director of A Quiet Place 2 so it is safe to say that the film is in good hands.
While the first film takes part heavily on the property of the Abbott’s residence, the A Quiet Place 2 trailer shows that Blunt’s character and her three children (including a newborn) traversing the apocalyptic world, leaving their home behind. The first film showed some semblance of a community with emergency beacons and signals, but the new trailer depicts a more desolate and evil way of life beyond the Abbott farm.
A new character played by Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) is introduced in the trailer, and while still unaware of his moral standings he warns the Abbott family that the people that are left in the world are “not the kind of people worth saving.”
The A Quiet Place 2 trailer also shows a glimpse of Murphy’s backstory and some companions he was with leading up to where we find his character now.
If A Quiet Place 2 is anything like the first film, the eerily quiet yet suspenseful nature is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, gnawing on our fingernails. So far, the first official trailer has done just that and I am more than excited to see the terrifying world that Krasinksi has created in A Quiet Place 2.
