Spider-Man villain, and ruthless killer, Kraven the Hunter has set his sights on Krakoa. X-Force #32, from Benjamin Percy and Robert Gill, sees the villain begin killing any and all mutants he finds. This continues the X-Force storyline of Kraven hunting down mutants after the events of Judgment Day.
Why Would A Spider-Man Villain Hunt Down Mutants?
Per CBR, Kraven’s new mission stems from the events of Judgment Day. After the Progenitor came to life and forced all of Earth to justify their existence, Kraven became obsessed with proving himself worthy. The villain assumes that taking out the fiercest warriors on Earth will justify his existence in the eyes of the Progenitor.
At the beginning of his new mission, Kraven is accompanied by the head of Deadpool. However, he soon loses Wade Wilson somewhere on the island of Krakoa. Although, that is the least of his problems, as the mutant island soon takes notice of his presence.
Kraven on Krakoa
After landing on the island, the Spider-Man villain wastes little time acting out his mission. He immediately sets about destroying a ton of the mutant resurrection eggs that bring fallen mutants back to life. He does this while thinking how little their existence means when they can so easily come back to life. By taking the eggs away, Kraven believes he is making them “truly alive.”
After making a mess of the resurrection eggs, Kraven begins killing any mutant he comes across. This includes Maggott and Icarus. However, before killing Icarus, Kraven asks who the most dangerous mutant is on the island. Naturally, Icarus points him to the most dangerous mutant out there; Wolverine. From then on, Wolverine is the main target for the mutant-slaughtering Hunter.
To lure Wolverine out, Kraven decides to kidnap Beast and lure him to the Shadow Room. Meanwhile, the island and its inhabitants soon realize someone is there and sends Wolverine to investigate. The issue concludes with Wolverine entering the Shadow Room, which Kraven has turned into the Savage Lands. Kraven, the Spider-Man villain, emerges and challenges Wolverine!
