Ayo Edebiri is playing Janine’s estranged sister Ayesha in the hit mockumentary sitcom series Abbott Elementary. Quinta Brunson plays Janine Teagues in the series. Janine has mentioned her family drama throughout the show. Ayo Edebiri is the star of the critically acclaimed series The Bear. The mockumentary sitcom series is not nearly as serious and hostile as The Bear, but there is still some drama. Viewers will get to see Ayo Edebiri in the series Abbott Elementary on their “Valentine’s Day” episode. Janine will FaceTime her sister Ayesha; this is the first glimpse of a family member of Janine’s. Even though Edebiri’s appearance was brief, she’ll return later on in the season. The whole series follows the lives of Abbott Elementary teachers and the quirky situations they get into. There will no doubt be more family drama from Janine as fans get to know her.
Ayo Edebiri Scored a Breakout Role with Her Character Sydney Adamu on “The Bear”
Ayo Edebiri’s career started as a writer on the comedy series What We Do in the Shadows and Dickinson. She then starred in Dickinson as Hattie. Ayo Edebiri replaced Jenny Slate to voice the character Missy on the Netflix series Big Mouth. She will even star in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Thunderbolts. She gained critical acclaim as the sous chef Sydney Adamu on The Bear opposite Jeremy Allen White. Edebiri’s role as Ayesha in the mockumentary sitcom series Abbott Elementary is proof of her blossoming career. Edebiri has a brief appearance in Abbott Elementary for now, but her character will be more defined with time. Orlando Jones and Leslie Odom Jr. have also guest starred in the mockumentary sitcom series. Considering the rocky relationship Janine has alluded to with both her mother and her sister, those will be two family members to look out for.
