After months of setup, Marvel is ready to unleash a wave of evil across the Earth – Carnage! The serial-killing psychopath is ready to hunt his chosen victims and anyone who gets in his way. The crossover Absolute Carnage aims to shake the universe in the five-issue miniseries and various tie-ins showing how the event affects other Marvel characters.
Absolute Carnage Reigns
Absolute Carnage comes out of the storyline that Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman created in Venom. With a horror aesthetic, the duo plans to unleash a nightmare upon the citizens of the Marvel universe. While the symbiote scourge has waxed and waned since Spider-Man first acquired it in the first Secret Wars, the crossover event brings it back into focus in a major way. Cletus Kasady, the first Carnage, has returned from the dead with a new symbiote and a new mission: kill anyone who has bonded with a symbiote and feast on certain parts of their nervous system. Once he succeeds, he will be able to contact the hivemind of the imprisoned symbiote god, Knull. Once freed, Knull can then assert control over all symbiote hosts throughout the universe.
The main story of Absolute Carnage will focus on Eddie Brock and his response to Carnage’s chaos. Host to the Venom symbiote, Brock has walked the line of hero and antihero for most of his career. In addition, he has a newly discovered son named Dylan who is traveling with him. Since Dylan was conceived with help from the Venom suit, Carnage will surely go after him as well. Add in Spider-Man and the other characters that have made contact with the symbiote race in the past and Kasady have plenty of victims to feed upon. Carnage can consume the necessary parts whether they are living or dead, and the individual does not have to currently host a symbiote to be a viable candidate. Announced tie-ins include Venom, Amazing Spider-Man, and other three-issue miniseries based on characters such as Miles Morales and the Avengers.
