Sarah J Mass’ best-selling series A Court of Thorns and Roses, lovingly referred to as ACOTAR, is in development as a new series at Hulu. Details are incredibly scarce at the moments, but Outlander’s Ron Moore is set to work on the adaptation.
The ACOTAR news was accidentally leaked by Maas’ own husband in an Instagram post earlier this week. What seemed to be an innocent post of a peanut butter sandwich with a caption about taking care of their kids revealed some very exciting news. Fans went nuts when they noticed handwritten notes on the table about an ACOTAR adaptation and Ron Moore’s name.
Once the news was out, Maas took to her Instagram to officially share the ACOTAR news:
So, it’s official (and thank you, Josh, for accidentally spilling the beans! ?): Ron Moore (creator of Outlander and one of my creative idols) and I will co-adapt ACOTAR as a tv show for Hulu! I’m currently hard at work writing the pilot with Ron (!!!!!), and while there is SO much more news to share with you guys about bringing this series to life, it just feels so great to finally be able to talk about this! Stay tuned for more details!! ???
As this announcement came much quicker than everyone expected, this is all we know at the moment. However, A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wing and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight and, just recently, A Court of Silver Flames are all available for your reading pleasure. If you’re looking for an adaptation to fill the void, Netflix’s Shadow and Bone will release on April 23rd.
