According to Deadline, action-comedy Freelance will have Mr. Robot actor Christian Slater join the cast. Slater joins John Cena, Alison Brie, Alice Eve, Mortan Csokas, and Juan Pablo Raba.
Here is the full synopsis of Freelance:
A special forces operator (Cena) decides to retire from the Army and start a family back in the U.S.. After several years of mortgage payments, school drop-offs, backyard barbecues and trying to conform to life in suburbia, he decides to come out of retirement to take a gig providing security for a female journalist (Brie) as she interviews a cruel dictator who may or may not have ordered the attack on him and his men. When a military coup breaks out in the middle of the interview, the three are forced to escape into the jungle where they must survive the elements, the military and one another.
Creatives joining alongside Christian Slater in Freelance
Christian Slater’s role is currently unknown, but Pierre Morel will be directing action-comedy Freelance. Morel burst onto the scene in 2008 with Liam Neeson as the led in Taken in 2008. He also directed the 2010s From Paris with Love starring a bald John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The writer behind Freelance is Jacob Lentz, who has done a lot of writing for TV specials such as Jimmy Kimmel Live’s All-Star Salute to Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Big Night of Stars, along with being a writer for Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Christian Slater has been an actor for decades and is best known for his work during the late 80s and through the 90s with hits like Heathers (1988), True Romance (1993), and Broken Arrow (1996) and most recently won a Golden Globe for his role in the hit show, Mr. Robot.
