Long-time soap opera actor Peter Bergman has signed a new deal to stay on The Young and the Restless for another five years. The news of the actor signing this five-year contract comes from Deadline. Bergman has starred as heartthrob Jack Abbott on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless since 1989 and is in the running to possibly win another Daytime Emmy award.
Actor Peter Bergman’s Daytime Career
Actor Peter Bergman has been in soaps since the 1970s. His career highlights list him on some of the most popular daytime television shows around, such as The Young and the Restless (1973), All My Children (1970), and The Bold and the Beautiful (1987). On All My Children, Peter Bergman got his start in the daytime television scene when he landed the role of Dr. Cliff Warner and starred in the series for nine years! From them, he moved to another popular daytime soap opera, The Young and the Restless, where he’s since been starring as Jack Abbott (and sometimes fake Jack Abbott).
Although daytime soaps are constantly bringing in new stars, they never forget about the veterans of the shows. As for Bergman, the soap opera icon is a vet that’s never left (especially after staying on the same series for 32 years). The fact that Peter Bergman was offered a five-year contract rather than the usual one to four-year deal shows how important CBS views Bergman as a vital part of The Young and the Restless family.
