Last night at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, there was a Snow White and the Huntsman reunion. This almost 10-year reunion brought together Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron after their 2012 film. Charlize Theron showed up o the Festival to present the American Riviera Award to her past co-star actress Kristen Stewart for her Oscar-nominated performance as the late Princess Diana in Spencer.
The now 31-year-old Twilight star Kristen Stewart has been in the limelight since she was a kid. The public eye has seen her life, and everybody watched her grow up. Before the lovely presentation from Charlize Theron, Kristen sat with Indiewire editor-at-large Anne Thompson for a Q&A where she was asked about her career.
When Stewart was asked when she realized how famous she really was, she responded that it might’ve had something to do with the paps, her porch, and a little marijuana.
“Two days before Twilight came out, I remember I was sitting on my porch with my dog and I got papped for the first time…sitting there smoking a bowl,…I look back on that moment with fondness.”
Kristen’s huge role as Bella Swan in the Twilight Saga opposite The Batman star Robert Pattinson was a big turn in her career. As she talked to Thompson about the Twilight franchise, she said
“All of its faults are its strength because we just wanted it to be the best it could be…We were all so young.”
The Neon film Spencer portrays Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana. Directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Steven Knight, the heavy R-rated film is about Diana Spencer during her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England. During this time, Diana is struggling with mental health problems decides to end her decade-long marriage to Prince Charles.
This heart-wrenching performance has earned Kristen Stewart an Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at the 94th Academy Awards.
