When Will the Special Air?
Adele One Night Only will air on CBS on November 14, the week before Thanksgiving.
“The special will feature an exclusive interview with Adele by Oprah Winfrey from her rose garden, in Adele’s first televised wide-ranging conversation about her new album, the stories behind the songs, life after divorce, weight loss and raising her son,” CBS briefed in a press release.
Produced by Fulwell 73 Productions and Onward Productions in association with Harpo Productions, the show will be executive produced by Late Late Show With James Corden producer Ben Winston, Adele, her manager Jonathan Dickins and Raj Kapoor.
Adele’s new single, Easy On Me, was released on Friday, October 14. As of press time, the music video has already been viewed over 71.9 million times on YouTube. 30, her fourth studio album, will be released on Friday, November 19 – six days after her CBS special.
What Did Adele Say About the Album?
During the announcement of last week’s album, Adele compared it to having a friend through the most turbulent part of her life, a period during which she got married, got divorced, and had to raise her son in the middle of it, aged nine.
“When I was writing it, it was my friend who came over with a bottle of wine and a takeaway to cheer me up,” Adele wrote. “My wise friend who always gives the best advice. Not to forget the one who’s wild and says ‘It’s your Saturn return babes f*** it, you only live once.’ The friend who’d stay up all night and just hold my hand while I’d sob relentlessly, not knowing why.”
Adele further added:
The get-up and go friend who would pick me up and take me somewhere I said I didn’t want to go but just wanted to get me out of the house for some vitamin D. That friend who snuck in and left a magazine with a face mask and some bath salts to make me feel loved while inadvertently reminding me not only what month it actually was but that I should probably exercise some self-care! And then that friend who, no matter what, checked in on me even though I’d stopped checking in with them because I’d become so consumed by my own grief. I’ve painstakingly rebuilt my house and my heart since then, and this album narrates it.”
Among her many awards are 15 Grammys, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar. Adele’s last album, 25, was released in 2015, and its singles include Hello, Send My Love (to Your New Lover), and When We Were Young.
Recently, Adele hosted one of the most-watched episodes of SNL Season 46, in October 2020.
