All Elite Wrestling is quickly becoming the number 2 wrestling promotion on TV. One of the biggest stars on that show, Kenny Omega, is going to be co-hosting The Street Fighter V Arcade Edition world finals. This isn’t Omega’s first run-in with Street Fighter; the lifelong fan had done several promotional things with the tournament fighter, including one year when he challenged his on-screen and off-screen rival, Austin Creed (AKA Xavier Woods), to a Street Fighter match. This year’s Capcom Cup will pit players all around the globe for a chance into the 32 person tournament for a chance at the $250k champions pot.
During his hosting duties, Omega will be conducting interviews with tournament players, influencers, and the top players. Along with these, he will be able to provide his unique and professional insight into strategy and provide live analysis for viewers and spectators. When asked about this announcement and his passion for Street Fighter, Omega had this to say,
Whether it be the World Series, Super Bowl, or Capcom Cup, there’s nothing more captivating than watching the greatest athletes in your sport of choice, do what they do best. No matter where I am on the globe, I never miss the Capcom Cup, and this year I get to see it from the best seat in the house. Best of luck to everyone competing.
Fans will be able to catch the Capcom Cup on Capcoms streaming services, including Twitch, Youtube, Facebook, and Mixer. You’ll also be able to find Kenny Omega and his video game-themed costumes every Wednesday at 8/7c on AEW TV. The 2019 Capcom Cup will take place on December 13th-15th in Lose Angeles, California.
