To celebrate 60 years of Spider-Man, Marvel is releasing a special issue of Amazing Fantasy #1000. This giant-sized one-shot celebrates the comic that started it all for the web-slinger. Plus, the issue features stories from some of the most acclaimed creators in the comic book industry. The collection of stories included in Amazing Fantasy will explore the past and future of Amazing Spider-Man storytelling. As such, it will have a profound impact on the lore and mythology of Spider-Man.
Who is Contributing to Amazing Fantasy?
Earlier this week, Marvel teased the Amazing Fantasy one-shot by listing several popular comic book creators. Now, those creators will be the team behind these new Spidey stories. Visionary writer Neil Gaiman is returning to the Marvel Universe with a new web-slinging tale. Also contributing is Emmy Award winning creator Armando Iannucci. They are making their Marvel debut in Amazing Fantasy. Plus, returning to Spider-Man is Dan Slott and Jim Cheung who are teaming up to explore the relationship between Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson.
Meanwhile, amazing artist Michael Cho and novelist Anthony Falcone are teaming up to introduce a new Spider-villain. Also, horror fans will love Ho Che Anderson’s horror-fueled Spidey contribution. Rainbow Rowell, Jonathan Hickman, and more are also adding their own flare to Amazing Fantasy.
What Else Is Happening For Spidey’s 60th?
In addition to the super-sized one-shot, Marvel has several things in store for Spider-man fans. In honor of 60 years of web-slinging, Marvel relaunched the Amazing Spider-Man series back in April. The series focuses on Peter Parker’s struggle to put his shattered life and relationships back together. It is from Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr..
Plus, Marvel is releasing Spider-Man: Panel by Panel later this year. This hardcover collection features a reimagining of Spidey’s first stories by Chip Kidd. The graphic designer will use original vintage copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 and Spider-Man #1 and present them in a new way.
Amazing Fantasy #1000 hits shelves later in August.
