In the last few years, graphics cards have become something akin to a legendary Pokemon, you’re rarely going to find one, but even if you do, you won’t be able to catch it. But things might finally be getting better as AMD and other tech giants reduce prices of essential gaming hardware.
The recent Amazon Prime day deals, especially for computer hardware, were more than reasonable, which was unexpected, to say the least.
According to a report by PCGamesN, AMD will be reducing the prices of some of its products, namely the Ryzen 5 series and the Radeon 6000 series of graphics cards.
The discounts are currently available in the US, UK, and some other countries at specific retailers. Now would be the perfect time for an upgrade if you somehow managed to wait out the extreme silicone shortage and crypto uptick, especially if you wanted to go team red all the way.
Why Are Component Costs Plummeting Now?
Rumors had been floating around that Nvidia might be cutting the prices for its high-end graphics cards as well, the 3080 and 3090, to be specific. And this might have been a contributing factor as to why AMD has chosen this to be the right time to reduce its prices. So if you wanted a graphics card from team green, now might be the right time.
But probably the most likely reason for the price drops is that the next generation of graphics cards is right around the corner, for not only AMD and Nvidia but Intel as well. The AMD RDNA3 lineup will be revealed in October this year, while Nvidia’s 4000 series is set to be shown around that time as well. So now is the only time to get rid of the old stock before people hold off for the next generation.
Hopefully, the prices will continue to drop in the near future, and Intel’s upcoming offerings can compete in the competitive PC tech space. If you want to look into the discounts, head on over to AMD’s website.
