The cast of the GameStop movie Dumb Money has rounded its casting with America Ferrera, Deadline has reported. She will join the star-studded lineup with Paul Dano, Seth Rogan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Sebastian Stan, and Pete Davidson. Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies), Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), and Dane DeHaan (The Staircase) will star too.
The GameStop movie with America Ferrera is based on the book by Ben Mezrich, The Antisocial Network. It follows a subreddit called WallStreetBets, and the group behind it short-squeezed Wall Street with GameStop stocks as a part of a revolution against Wall Street. It resulted in the demise of a major hedge fund.

The film will be directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya). Orange Is the New Black writers Rebecca Angelo and Laurence Schuker Blum will adapt the book. Aaron Ryder, Teddy Schwarzman, and Gillespie produce. Michael Heimler, John Friedberg, Andrew Swett, Angelo, Schuker Blum, Mezrich, Johnny Holland, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, and Kevin Ulrich serve as executive producers. While the wheels start to turn, principal photography is undergoing.
Besides being cast in the GameStop movie, America Ferrera is known for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, How to Train Your Dragon, and The Good Wife. In recent years, she has starred in Dragons: Race to the Edge, Superstore, and WeCrashed with Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway. Coming up, she will join Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie. In 2024, she will star in the animated film Elio. While she has directing duties on TV, she will helm her first film with I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter for Netflix, based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Erika Sánchez.
Dumb Money has no release date yet, but will aim for sometime in 2023.
