American Horror Stories spinoff series is set to enter production – some good news for horror and AHS fans!
Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story franchise is expanding with a new anthology series spinoff, called American Horror Stories.
Murphy who is the AHS co-creator and executive producer mentioned the upcoming show in a social media post, saying that it will feature one-hour episodes that are disconnected from each other.
Dropping the news of this spinoff series in a social media post about a zoom call with the cast- including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Kathy Bates- of the original American Horror Story anthology series.
The post from Murphy was captioned: We reminisced about the good times…when we will start filming the next season of the mothership…and other stuff I cannot print. It was so much fun and I’m glad we caught up. I miss everyone!”
The new project has been described by sources as a companion anthology series to American Horror Story, where each episode will be a self-contained, standalone ghost story. It’s likely that the show will feature some of the key players from the main show but other details regarding the spinoff are still sparse.
The American Horror Story franchise kicked off in 2011 and throughout its nine installments so far it has averaged almost 10 million viewers per episode. The popular show was renewed for three more seasons earlier this year. The series has been nominated for 95 Emmy Awards and won 16 over its run.
The news of the spinoff comes just over a month after Murphy revealed the creepy trailer for the tenth season of the mothership show which was slated for release in fall 2020. However, like many other Hollywood productions, the filming of American Horror Story’s new season – which announced Macaulay Culkin as part of the forthcoming season’s cast in February- has been halted with no start set date in sight.
