Up-and-coming stars Andrew Ortenberg and June Schreiner star as the leading couple in When I’m Ready, a new post-apocalyptic romance movie from Film Bridge International and 19th Hole Productions. The film reportedly ended filming today and is ready to be shopped for release at film festivals next year.
Written by Andrew Ortenberg, When I’m Ready tells the story of Rose (June Schreiner) and Michael (Ortenberg), a couple on the run from their past while a giant asteroid is on a collision path with Earth. With their doom slowly approaching and their bucket lists in hand, the couple decides to embark on a cross-country road trip, spending their last few days chasing thrills and trying to find meaning in their lives. During their epic journey, Rose and Michael encounter other people on similar trips, each one a ”lost soul” with their own perspective on the impending end.
Who are ‘When I’m Ready’ Andrew Ortenberg and June Schreiner?
While Andrew Ortenberg is an up-and-coming actor in terms of on-screen roles, he does have a history of voice acting that reaches back over a decade. His first voice-acting role came in 2010, when he starred as the voice of Squirrel #2 in Alpha and Omega, an animated film about two wolves in an unlikely couple; two years later, Ortenberg starred as the voice Ike Kid #3 in Foodfight! (2012), an animated comedy. In 2016, he would make his first on-screen appearance as Brick in Black Petunia, a movie about a dystopian government that erases memories via contaminated water. Some of Ortenberg’s other roles include Royce in A-X-L (2018), the opening victim in an episode of Water’s Edge (2019), and Simon in Good Mourning (2022).
Regarding his role in When I’m Ready, Andrew Ortenberg told Deadline:
“We told an epic love story with a healthy mix of blood, sweat, and more than a few tears. I look forward to going into battle with this same crew, led fearlessly by director Andrew Johnson and our amazing cinematographer Rachael Kliman, again soon.”
Relative to her co-star, June Schreiner boasts a slightly shorter but no less impressive acting career, which started in 2016 with her roles as an unnamed Production Assistant in Bosch on Amazon Prime Video and as Amber in Pure Genius (2016). Also, in 2016, Schreiner starred as Amy Barrett in an episode of the hit crime drama NCIS, followed by a role as Alison Price in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. In 2018, Schreiner would star as Vanessa Podrasky in NCIS spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles, followed by a role as Fiona in All Good Things the next year. Between 2019 and 2022, she starred as Nurse June Hampton in Chicago Med (2015) and can next be seen as Katherine May in Found in Eagle Rock.
