The 2.0 update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has arrived! The update features many new changes, including new customization options, DIY storage, ordinances, and many other new items. Among these new items is the donation box you can use to collect build project donations from visitors. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to buy and use the donation box in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
How to Get and Use the Donation Box in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
To buy the donation box, you must first visit the Resident Services building. This is the building where Tom Nook and Isabelle typically work. Once you are inside, find the Nook Stop terminal on the right side of the building. You can use this ATM to pay off your loans, redeem Nook Miles and access the Nook Shop. Choose Nook Miles to find a list of all the new items available for purchase. Make sure you have updated to the new 2.0 update so you can view all of the latest recipes and furniture items. If you have the newest update, you will find the donation box priced at 800 Nook Miles.

Since it is a recipe, you will still need to craft the donation box and place it anywhere on your island. Go to a nearby workbench and find the recipe. You will need four wood and four softwood to craft it, which you can get from trees. Once you have crafted the donation box, place it anywhere on your island. Visitors can interact with the box to deposit 1000 bells inside for you to withdraw. You can also craft multiple boxes and place them around your island, so visitors have various options for leaving tips. Likewise, if you visit someone’s island and see a donation box, you can donate to them by selecting the ‘deposit 1000 bells” option.
