New details have finally emerged about the upcoming update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons via Nintendo of America’s Twitter. As part of their nod to the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo has decided to impart a bit of the Goomba stomping spirit into Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Following the February 25 update, eager players will have to wait until March 1 when the items will become available through Nook Shopping.
Place two Warp Pipes on your island to warp between them, even with one in your home! If you place more than two, the warp location will be chosen randomly. The #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons update arrives 2/25, with #SuperMario items for purchase at Nook Shopping on 3/1. pic.twitter.com/JOmKNd19XZ

The upcoming items will feature looks from four of the Super Mario series biggest characters: Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Princess Peach. Also, the update will give a nod to other classic staples of the franchise, featuring power-ups such as the 1-Up Mushroom, the Fire Flower, Coins, and even the Goal Pole. Needless to say, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons update promises a ridiculous amount of customization.
Also, players that download the February 25 update will receive a gift in the form of a “Mushroom Mural.” This is a wallpaper that features coin blocks and piranha plants. To boot, Nintendo was most excited to highlight the Warp Pipes. These will allow players to seamlessly travel between locations—even randomly if they so choose.
The February 25 update will also bring with it a slew of holiday-themed packs. First off, on March 3, will be the Hinamatsuri festival—also known as Doll’s Day in Japan. It will bring with it a hina ningyo doll and a blossom lantern. Next up will be Pi Day, the mathematical holiday celebrated on March 14, bringing a pie with the pi symbol latticed on the crust. Lastly, March 17 brings on Shamrock Day when players will be able to purchase St. Patrick’s Day-inspired items.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have an exciting couple of weeks to look forward to. We can’t wait to see the creative ways that fans will implement the new Super Mario-themed items. What do you think of the new update? Are these better events than this month’s Festivale? Let us know in the comments, and, as always, share so that others can mentally prepare for the massive update.
