Animaniacs Reboot On Hulu
The first season of the Animaniacs reboot, produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, was originally announced in 2020 and streamed on Hulu from November 20, 2020. As with the original 1993 cartoon series, the show focused on the life and adventures of the iconic and inseparable Warner siblings — Yakko, Wakko, and Dot—after being absent from television for 22 years. The episodes focused on their usual wackiness and mayhem as they adapted to life in the 21st century, most composed of three shorts following the siblings’ various antics. It also features the return of the fan-favorite characters Pinky and the Brain—two lab mice, one of whom is intelligent and wants to take over the world, the other is dim-witted and clumsy – from the titular cartoon series of the same name.
Previously, reruns of the original Animaniacs had only ever appeared on Netflix in the 22 years it was off of television. The reboot was developed by Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation in collaboration with Steven Spielberg and Wellesley Wild. The original voice actors for Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Pinky, and Brain – Robert Fredrick Paulsen III, Jess Harnell, Tress MacNeille, Paulsen LaMarche, and Maurice LaMarche, respectively – all returned to their starring roles for the reboot as well and will return once more this season.
