Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlize Theron share starring as Furiosa in Mad Max movies, and they plan on sharing stories of their time as the character for the franchise. While promoting her latest horror movie, The Menu, the Queen’s Gambit star told People magazine how the two stars plan on meeting for dinner to “swap war stories.”
The inevitable meeting was on the table but had to be held away for some time. Anya Taylor-Joy said while filming the Fury Road prequel, Furiosa, she and the original star of the character who debuted in the 2015 film wanted to be “respectful of each other.” When press junkets end, they will find time to talk about their experiences.
“I think both of us ended up in a situation where we were both so respectful of each other that we didn’t want to reach out prior [to filming]. The second it was over, once this press tour is over, we’re having dinner and we’re going to swap war stories for sure.”
Surely Anya Taylor-Joy will have stories during her time on the Mad Max prequel. In an Instagram post (seen below) on October 27, when she wrapped filming, she wrote that it was an “honour” and “privilege” to film the latest installment of the action franchise. She thanked the people she worked with by saying that the experience and people made her “tougher than I ever thought I could be.”
Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlize Theron to ‘swap war stories’ of filming Mad Max
“War stories” is a good way to put it for Charlize Theron during her time shooting her Mad Max movie. In a detailed book from this year by New York Times reporter Kyle Buchanan, Blood, Sweat, & Chrome, he went into the chaos surrounding the production of the high-octane action flick. Much of that came from a feud between her and Tom Hardy, who reportedly came in late and had other unprofessional behavior.
It has been seven years since Fury Road exploded in theaters as a huge hit for audiences and critics alike. It defied expectations to the point of earning six Oscars on top of its ten nominations. By the time Furiosa releases on May 24, 2024, it would have been nine years since we got to revisit the post-apocalyptic landscape that George Miller crafted.
