The epic battle royale, Apex Legends, has finally been rated for release on the Nintendo Switch. Respawn Entertainment’s newest IP has been expected to make the jump onto Nintendo Switch alongside cross-play for all devices. Similarly, the title is also set to launch on Steam, giving PC players more versatility.
This news comes after the announcement of the Apex Legends receiving a new Champion Edition with all unlockable legends and exclusive cosmetics launching at the start of the new season. Launching soon with all expected features and updates, the Nintendo Switch version will be an excellent inclusion to Apex Legend’s growing player base. The ESRB has updated its website to include the Switch version in their Teen rating.
In mid-June, Respawn has confirmed their intentions to release Apex Legends on the Switch as part of their announcements during EA Play 2020. The teaser trailer noted that the title would receive the cross-platform update and new version launch in the fall. Since then, Respawn has confirmed their diligent effort to bring Apex Legends to Switch while launching the cross-play beta on PC earlier this month. It would seem that the work by the EA studio is progressing very well and on target to match the next update coming to the beloved battle royale.
Despite the rating by the ESRB, Apex Legends will more than likely still take some time until it appears on the Switch store page. The update is set to release some time after November 10th when the current battle pass ends. Respawn also delayed the launch of the current season by a week, so estimates on when Season 7 will drop could vary. Nonetheless, Apex Legends has become more impressive as more additions and versions have become more prevalent. Until then, Apex Legends is available on a PC through EA Origin and both PS4 and Xbox One.
