The Apple TV+ Lady in the Lake series has gotten significantly deeper as it has expanded its cast with Noah Jupe (The Undoing). The limited series has also cast Mike Epps (Resident Evil), Byron Bowers (Honey Boy), Josiah Cross (King Richard), and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Bird Box). This announcement comes after Moses Ingram (Obi-Wan Kenobi) came aboard to replace Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther), who had to drop out of the project. Natalie Portman will lead the series. Y’Lan Noel (Insecure), Mikey Madison, and Brett Gelman (Stranger Things) will also star.
Lady in the Lake is based on Laura Lippman’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, published in 2019 by publisher William Morrow. In 1960s Baltimore, Maddie Schwartz (Portman) goes from housewife and mother into an investigative journalist who wants to investigate an unsolved murder. In this, she comes into contact with Cleo Sherwood (Ingram), a mother juggling jobs to make ends meet, who also aims to improve Black communities in Baltimore. The two lives crossing over will put them on a journey that will forever change their lives.
