Counter-Strike Global Offensive is as old as buttered-toast, to be honest. Valve’s hard-hitter was released nearly 11 years ago, and it seems like Valve didn’t want to count past one this time around. But lo and behold, a new Counter-Strike 2 just might happen!
Are We Really Getting Something New – Counter-Strike 2
NEW COUNTER-STRIKE TRADEMARKS 😳 pic.twitter.com/R6iPHm7vxz

Twitter user Aquarius spotted the Trademark for a Counter-Strike and a CS2 On USPTO .report. Just by the looks of it, it’s obvious we might be getting a new Counter-Strike, 2, to be fair.
But why did Valve feel the need to file for a new trademark? Of course, they want to make a Counter-Strike 2, but why not stick with what works? Obviously, the graphics haven’t aged all that well. Counter Strike Global Offensive has received numerous overhaul updates over the years.
Maybe we’ll see another overhaul in the form of a Counter-Strike 2 with the same old, same old that works just fine with a welcome addition of new shaders, texture maps, and lighting effects. That goes hand-in-hand with what Blizzard pulled off with Overwatch 2.
We might see a Live Service Model with the new CS. The patent was filed a few days ago. So, the game is pretty much early in development at this moment. If everything is as it seems, Counter-Strike 2 will certainly get the Source 2 treatment that the CS community has been waiting for.
But demanding overhauls mean a higher bar for entry. We hope Valve keeps visual fidelity settings tame so everyone can play CS as it’s meant to be played – On a potato.
So, what are your thoughts on Counter-Strike 2? Will we get a live-service model or something in the realm of a CS built from scratch? Do we really need a Counter Strike 2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Make sure to stay tuned for more!
